St Anne’s 4-2 Panthers
Our last game of the phase and a trip away to St Anne’s. This game also fell on the silent weekend so it was good to see how the girls would perform. We started off well and after a few corners early on from Phoebe, one of them fell to Indie inside the 6 yard box and finished into the roof of the net. The game continued and we started to lose our shape a few times and St Anne’s capitalised on this to draw level. They then took the lead with the last kick of the half with a counter attack. We regrouped and got the girls to let me know how they were playing. I gave them a little bit of feedback about things that were happening throughout the game and we started the second half. We struggled to get a hold of the game but still created a couple of half chances. St Anne’s had a few chances but between Edith and our back line they kept us within touching distance. St Anne’s grabbed a third meaning we had to chase the game. We played some good passing football and managed to grab a goal back. Annie played a through ball to Macey who finished well. We wanted to grab an equaliser but that left space and St Anne’s grabbed a fourth right at the end of the game.
Parents player of the match
This week went to Sofia. She was strong defensively against some very fast players but held her own. She made it difficult for them to get a shot away and showed good pace too. She also found some great passes into midfield. Very well played Sofia. Well done!
Coaches player of the match
This week went to Edith. Some of the saves she made were brilliant and kept us in the game even getting praise from the opposition coach as well. Her distribution was good and claimed the ball when she needed to. Well played Edith!
