Panthers 1-0 Morecambe
With all our games played this phase the league arranged a friendly for us this week. Our opponents were Morecambe who were in the division above so it was a good test to see where we were. With a few ill and a few unable to make it this week we ended up with 10 players. This further didn’t help as the weather was atrocious. Heavy gusts of wind with rain and hail added in there made it very tricky for both teams. First half we weren’t quite at our fluent self and Morecambe probably shaded the half however our girls stuck to their tasks and we managed to grab a goal. A ball over the top meant Mia could press their back line but their clearance fell to Tilli who got the ball onto her left foot and slammed home the opener into the bottom right hand corner. We started to play a little better after that and the game seemed a bit more even. Second half we did well. Limited their attacks and had a couple of chances to extend the lead through Mia, Macey and Tilli but just didn’t quite take them. Morecambe still.had a few chances of their own and if it wasn’t for a brilliant goal line clearance from Phoebe they would have equalised. The game though, finished 1-0. A good game of football from both teams in very testing conditions.
Parent player of the week
This week, again, went to Sofia. She just didn’t stop all game and battled well against her winger making it difficult for her to get past. Not only that she had the confidence to turn her marker and played some brilliant balls to her teammates. Her consistency over the past few weeks has been outstanding and this shows it after grabbing 3 parent player awards in a row. Well done Sofia!
Coaches player of the week.
Some strong performances this week but we chose Phoebe. She really had the bit between her teeth this week and was physical against her opposite number. Always there to cover when needed and was rock solid in defense. To top it off the goal line clearance to keep us in the lead was unbelievable. Really well played Phoebe. Well done!
