Panthers 5-0 Morecambe Hawks
Two more games left of the phase starting with today’s game against Morecambe. Morecambe have had some strong results this phase and we had to be on our A game to get the result we needed. We started off brightly. Our passing game was good and we found the space to exploit the opposition under some tricky conditions. We took the lead halfway through the first half. Tilli made a brilliant run down the wing and worked the ball into the box to Imogen. She found Tilli again and she finished well. We continued to play well throughout the half and doubled our lead just before half time. A corner from Phoebe made its way all the way into the box and after a little bit of pinball Tilli swiped it home. We regrouped at halftime and wanted to keep the intensity up and the second half we did that. A few minutes into the second half a cross from Tilli was semi cleared by Morecambe but Annie cleverly lobbed the keeper to make it 3. We made it 4 soon after when a cross on the right found Indie whose effort was semi blocked by the keeper. Imogen then tried to get the shot away but the ball fell to Tilli who poked it home to grab her hatrick. We finished the scoring off with a great cross from the left that came off a couple of Morecambe players before it was turned in as an own goal. Overall a very good game from the girls again to extend our winning run. They played superbly as they have done all phase with another clean sheet showing how well we are defending and attacking as a team. Two super proud coaches in both Phil and myself. Parents player of the game
This week it went to Sofia. She played so well in defense and was part of the reason for the clean sheet. She covered really well when the opposition attackers broke through. Strong and assertive throughout but was also looking to intercept passes where possible. Not only that, once she had the ball she looked to push forward and found multiple passes to teammates to set up counter attacks. Well done Sofia!
Coaches player of the match
This week we chose Tilli. She grabbed a hat trick but more importantly her overall game today was brilliant. Some lovely intricate passes in the final third linking with teammates and was a constant threat throughout the whole game. Considering she only just started this phase it’s like she’s played with them longer. Well played Tilli!
