Well, not the start we wanted, but some positives to be taken from today.
The first half Neo’s were by far the better team and were unlucky not to go in at half time with a lead. Noah had the ball in the net after 5 mins following a corner but their lino flagged it for offside. Couldn’t tell from where we were whether that was right or not.
The lads played some good pressing football and had 3 or 4 clear chances but couldn’t capitalise on their pressure and it was thus 0-0 at half time.
The second half was a different affair with Lytham pushing forward and credit to the away lot, they were playing decent passing football.
Unfortunately with the wind in our faces and no subs the lads started to struggle to clear their lines and it was no surprise when they went 1-0.
We were struggling to put moves together, but on the 3 or 4 occasions when the lads did pass the ball we created opportunities and the Lytham keeper was called into action a couple of times, with the best chance from Jared’s stinging shot on the right.
We went on to concede three more, two of which were sloppy, but one was a well worked goal by Lytham, before Dylan pulled one back with 5 minutes to go.
Focus for the lads is all about passing, movement and communication – we’ve been working on it all summer and when they do it, they’re great, but that wasn’t the case for most of the second half unfortunately.
So, we go again, on Tuesday vs South Shore
