A strong performance from all of the boys against an older and more experienced Spirit of Youth U9s side.
We knew it would be a challenging fixture, but the players were not overawed. They worked hard for one another, remained organised as a team, and continued to show a commitment to playing football in the right way.
There were many encouraging moments in possession. The team moved the ball well, created opportunities, and scored some excellent team goals, demonstrating clear progress from recent training sessions.
The most notable aspect of the performance was the players’ attitude. Even when under sustained pressure, they did not lose confidence. They continued to work, support each other, and attempt to play football throughout, showing real resilience and character against older opposition.
A special mention goes to Roairi, who joined the group for the first time and played in goal. He settled in very well, made a number of important saves, and conducted himself as though he had been part of the team for some time.
Overall, there were many positives to take from the match. At this stage of development, progress is more important than results, and the players continue to grow in confidence, improve their understanding of roles, work effectively as a team, and enjoy their football.
