Panthers 6 – 1 Euxton North
Fifth game of the season and another fantastic performance from the girls. We started off a little slow today. We didn’t quite play the football that the girls have been used to playing and with some good pressing from euxton we conceded ten minutes into the game. The girls were still not as fluid and it took a little time to really get going. They did equalise though with some good work by Imogen and a great through ball to Macey who finished well. A few minutes later the girls had turned it around as we took the lead. Some good work by Macey down the right and she crossed it in for either Imogen or Annie to poke home (I believe they both were unsure who had scored. If only we had VAR). We regrouped at halftime and talked about what we did well and what we could improve on and the girls really turned it on in the second half. A good bit of pressing from their goal kick and the ball fell to Tilli who took a couple of touches and finished well from just inside the box. Ten minutes later some more good work from Tilli on the left created some space for her and she put in a dangerous cross. Euxton half cleared but the ball fell to Mia who poked it home. We continued to press and some good work from Mia slipped Macey in who sprinted past their back line to chip the ball over their keeper. We rounded off the game with a swift counter attack. Mya calmly winning the ball from our box and playing a great ball into the channel for Phoebe who ran onto it from in her own half and sprinted towards goal and fired in to complete the scoring. A really good performance from the girls. Well done panthers!
Parents player of the match
This week went to Mya. Her ability to sense danger is second to none and every time our full backs lost the ball she seemed to appear out of nowhere to help out using her pace/strength or footballing brain to nullify any attack. Covered every blade of grass as always and played brilliantly. Well done Mya!
Coaches player of the week
This week went to Macey. Another strong midfield performance from her again. She just runs and runs and when she is in that frame of mind she is unstoppable. Grabbed an early goal to start the comeback and then grabbed an assist and another goal to seal the win. Her ability is coming on leaps and bounds and should be really pleased with how she is getting on in this phase. Well done Macey!
