Panthers 3-0 Tarleton
Our first game back in what seems like a while (4 weeks in total), we were back to the league with a game against Tarleton. First half we could tell that it had been a while with the girls struggling to get into the game. Partly from a bit of match rust from the girls but also from a very well organised Tarleton team. It was a very scrappy first half with no one side really dominating the ball. We had a chat at half time and talked through a few things and the second half started well. We were getting on the ball more and finding space in between the lines. It wasn’t till half way through the second half that we managed to grab the opener. Some good battling down our left hand side ended up with a ball into the box. Imogen pursued it and after a bit of a pinball she placed the ball into the bottom corner. We continued to push for a second and were nearly caught out from a counter. Their striker bearing down on goal but Edith made herself big and the resulting effort cannoned off the post and Sofia dealt well with the rebound. This gave us a bit of a wake up and with a few minutes remaining some good play from Macey down the left ended with her taking a shot which rebounded off the keeper and fell to Imogen who grabbed her second. A couple of minutes later some good passing from our midfield fed the ball to Mia inside the box and she completed the scoring. A strong second half performance giving us the win. Well done panthers!
Parents player of the match
I believe it was a close call between a few of them but Imogen was chosen. She battled really hard in both midfield and upfront in that second half. She has a great passing range which she showcased today but also grabbed two very well taken goals to give us the lead. She also linked up well with her teammates and was always a willing runner. Well done Imogen!
Coaches player of the match
Another tough one but this week we went with Edith. Second game in a row with a clean sheet but was busy today. She came out and dominated her box, diving at the oppositions feet numerous times. Made it difficult for Tarleton to score but the thing that impressed me most was her distribution. Her kicking from her hands was really good but her passing from back passes was brilliant. Three or four times she found a midfield which broke the press of the opposition which was really good to see and something we will need to utilise going forward. Well done Edith!
