Kirkham Yellows U13s vs Spirit of Youth Scorpions U13s
What a game of football!
It was an intense game from the first whistle, with Scorpions putting Kirkham under a lot of pressure during the first half. We moved the ball around really well, kept pushing forward and created plenty of opportunities. Huge credit to the Kirkham goalkeeper, he was absolutely outstanding and produced one of the best goalkeeping performances we’ve seen in a long time. Save after save kept Kirkham in the game and somehow we went into half-time 0-0.
Kirkham came out strongly in the second half. They changed things around slightly, pressed us higher up the pitch and for the opening 10 minutes it became a much more even, end-to-end game.
Scorpions kept working, though, and eventually the pressure paid off. Bako broke the deadlock with a great finish to finally make it 1-0.
From there, Scorpions really took control. We kept the pressure on and it wasn’t long before Bako grabbed his second of the game to make it 2-0.
Then Aziz put the game to bed, adding the third to seal a 3-0 win for the Scorpions.
A brilliant performance from the whole team. The lads never gave up, kept believing and kept playing their football. All the hard work they’ve put in throughout pre-season really showed today.
But I don’t want to take anything away from Kirkham. They battled, they competed and they kept going.
Man of the Match for me has to go to the Kirkham goalkeeper. An absolutely outstanding performance and without some of the saves he made, the scoreline could have looked very different.
