Panthers 7-2 Clifton Rangers
What a game! A brilliant effort from the girls yesterday, with a midweek game. We started off really brightly playing some good football. We took the lead with some good play by Millie who pulled the ball back to Mia who finished well from in the box. We played well for the rest of the half but we were not quite exploiting their full backs as much as we could. The second half started and I believe they grabbed an equaliser. But the girls rallied and re took the lead. Indie pressed the opposition and found a through ball to Mia who scored her second. Clifton equalised again but our girls didn’t give up again. We took the lead once more, Macey finding a ball to Tilli on the wing who turned her marker inside out and rifled an effort into the bottom left hand corner. Straight from the restart we pressed again. Indie hounded their back line and the ball fell to her and she finished well to score her first goal for Panthers. We scored again quickly after. Sasha played a brilliant through ball to Mia who finished wonderfully to complete her hat trick. We weren’t done, and grabbed another 2 goals towards the end of the match. The first one from Phoebe. Millie found her from a corner she took a touch then shot from outside the box which lobbed everyone including the keeper. The final goal was scored by Millie who took the ball well from a pass from Macey and scored to make it 7.
Parents player of the match
A really tight call from all the parents but this week they went with Mya. She seemed to have a knack of finding where there was danger and helping her teammates. This was crucial in nullifying their strongest player and giving us the best chance for victory. As always she ran and ran and really had the bit between her teeth. Well done Mya!
Coaches player of the match
Again a difficult choice but this week we went with Tilli. Her ability to use both feet is extraordinary and has an exceptional ability to anticipate where the ball will be and how she can cause danger for the opposition. She had a really strong game and her goal was so well taken. Twisting her marker to gain space then finishing with a powerful effort into the bottom corner. Well done Tilli!
