Phoenix U14s Legends battled to a well-earned 2-2 draw against a strong and competitive Lytham Jaguars side in what proved to be another thrilling encounter between two teams who know each other well—many of the players sharing the same schools and friendships off the pitch.
From the first whistle, Phoenix showed great discipline in defence, holding their line and tracking back effectively to intercept numerous attacking threats. H and Riley H were solid at full-back, while Jacob B impressed at centre back, matching the pace of Lytham’s fastest forwards to break down key plays.
The midfield worked tirelessly throughout, dropping back to support the backline when needed but also linking up well to drive the ball forward. Their efforts were crucial in maintaining the team’s structure and feeding the attack. As always, Phoenix made good use of their speed on the wings, stretching the game and creating chances out wide.
Going forward, the team’s passing game was sharp and well-executed, involving all players. Riley C grabbed a goal and assisted Harley, who continued his impressive form with constant involvement in the attacking phases. His hard work didn’t go unnoticed as he deservedly took home the MOM award — well done, Harley!
It was a competitive and entertaining match from both sides, played in great spirit. Every time Phoenix faces Lytham Jaguars, it’s a great game to watch, and today was no exception. Credit to both teams for a well-fought draw and for continuing to show strong teamwork and sportsmanship.
