Our u14 Phoenix Legends put in a gritty and determined performance in what was always going to be a tough fixture against a team who played in the league above last season.
Riley H playing at left back, stood out with some excellent tackles, holding his own against a quick opposition winger. The entire defence were under pressure throughout the match, as the opposition made several attacks, forcing our back line to stay sharp and alert.
When we did manage to break forward, there were some moments of impressive link-up play between the midfield, wingers, and strikers that put the opposition on the back foot.
Our goal scorer today was Ashton, who made strong attacking runs from the left and finished well. Credit also goes to Sam, who assisted both goals with some great football knowledge shown.
Despite trailing 4-2 late in the game, Alfie ensured the scoreline stayed respectable by pulling off a brilliant save from a last-minute penalty — resulting in his MOM award.
