Lancon 2-4 Panthers
An early top of the table clash today against Lancon. We started off a little hesitant today and not as fluid as we have been in the past few games. Despite this we did take an early lead. Some battling in midfield from Macey found Mia whose initial shot was blocked but the rebound fell to her again and she smashed the ball into the top left hand corner expertly. We still weren’t playing as well as we could and Lancon turned it around grabbing two goals before halftime. A slight adjustment to how we played and we started the second half really brightly. Annie found Millie and Millie did what she has done all season and finished well to equalise. We went again and Mia closed down their back line and the rebounding ball fell into Millie’s path to give us the lead. We started playing some really dangerous football and were resolute in defense with Edith making some great saves. We then scored our fourth. Tilli working the ball wide to Macey who ran down the right wing and chipped the ball over the keeper. Lancon still battled to get back into the game but we held on to secure the three points.
Parents player of the game
This week went to Millie. Her skill level is really good and she showed that today to cause their backline lots of issues. She was a constant threat and her finishing is coming on leaps and bounds as shown with her goal tally this season so far. But most importantly was her bravery. To keep going and keep that head up no matter what happens is vital and she did that today and grabbed two goals as well. Well done Millie!
Coaches player of the game
A tough one today to choose from but we went with Isla today. She was so strong in her battles with her opposition player and made it super difficult for her. She was great on the ball and is really excelling in her role. She has a never give up attitude and is always willing to put herself on the line. A brilliant performance today Isla. Well done!
